Acuity Walks One Million Steps
Current steps: 1, 644, 543
We at Acuity Law are taking on a challenge to walk, run, skip or jump as many steps as possible in order to raise money for our two chosen charities for the year, Big Moose and ELAP .
We have over 40 employees and consultants taking part who will be split into teams and will be competing against one another to see which can team can complete the most steps over a period of 1 week.
Our overall goal is to reach a total of 1m steps by the end of the week. But there will also be prizes for the individual and team who complete the most steps, as well as a photography competition for the best picture taken whilst out and about taking part in the challenge.
We will also be encouraging employees to take part in a scavenger hunt along the way, with bonus steps awarded to each team who manages to tick an item off the list.
As well as improving well-being and encouraging a bit of healthy competition amongst our staff, the main aim of our event is to raise as much money as possible for our two wonderful charities of the year:
As well as improving well-being and encouraging a bit of healthy competition amongst our staff, the main aim of our event is to raise as much money as possible for our two wonderful charities of the year:
- Big Moose: (https://www.bigmoose.co/) – Founded by Jeff Smith after he lost his best friend ‘Moose’ to cancer, this charity was set up with a very clear intention – do fun stuff that inspires people to live better, healthier, kinder lives. They work on lots of different projects and facilitate fundraising for various charities, including Mind, Barnardo’s, Teenage Cancer Trust and Latch. Through their coffee shop in Cardiff, they work with vulnerable homeless people, train them to become qualified baristas, and help them back into employment.
- ELHAP: (https://www.elhap.org.uk/) – ELHAP is a magical and unique charity, providing adventure play opportunities to disabled and disadvantaged children, young people, and adults. Since 1976, they have supported tens of thousands of disabled children. Each year, ELHAP attracts over 6,000 visits from across North East London and Essex.
To this end, Acuity will be donating £25 for each employee who reaches at least 50,000 steps and will increase this to £1,500 if we reach our overall goal of 1m steps in total.
