SQE qualifying work experience

SQE rotational training contract
This route offers a dynamic experience across multiple practice areas. You will rotate through four different departments, with a fifth seat in your chosen area of qualification.
Key features
- Reimbursement of SQE 1 fees once you start your Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) subject to you passing the SQE 1 exams.
- Two years of structured training across a breadth of practices.
- Payment of the SQE 2 preparatory course and exam, which you will complete alongside your QWE.
- Pay increase once you enter your second year of your QWE.
- Final sear spent in your qualifying department or an additional practice area.
SQE specialist training contract
If you have already identified your preferred practice area, our Specialist route allows you to focus on a single discipline while still gaining exposure to complementary areas.
Key features
- Same SQE study structure as the Rotational route.
- Deeper immersion and expertise in your chosen field.
CILEX route
For those who prefer a qualification path with a stronger emphasis on professional experience rather than exams, we offer the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) route.
Key features
- Study for CPQ Advanced (12–18 months) while working as a Paralegal.
- Progression to Advanced Paralegal status with a salary increase.
- Option to continue CPQ Professional study for an additional 12 months.
- Attainment of CILEX Lawyer status upon completion.
- Opportunity for additional external accreditation.
Work experience
We offer flexible, ad hoc work experience placements between February and August. Our weeklong programme is designed to give aspiring lawyers hands-on experience in a leading commercial law firm.
