Maria-Elena is a trainee solicitor and has supported the dispute resolution and commercial property teams before undertaking final seats in the corporate, commercial and TMT departments. Prior to joining Acuity, Maria-Elena worked in cross-border business development; across diverse sectors including industrial manufacturing, digital print technology and luxury brands. Maria-Elena graduated with a distinction after completing the GDL, LPC and LLM in Advanced Drafting and has a keen interest in intellectual property; studying for a further postgraduate qualification at the University of Oxford.

Maria-Elena is also an active member of A-Law: the UK Centre for Animal Law, to further a better legal framework for the protection of animals.

  • Supported on the execution of a search order against a director of a company in relation to a breach of contract and copyright dispute
  • Assisted on a multimillion pound dispute involving minority shareholders and several major financial institutions
  • Assisted with drafting documents to effect a multimillion pound sale and leaseback of a commercial property
  • Provided support to partners in the commercial and intellectual property teams by drafting documents for the transfer and acquisition of various intellectual property rights
  • Drafted applications for the registration of EU trademarks, conducting preliminary clearance searches to provide advice and risk assessments to clients
