Rob is highly experienced in supporting publicly funded science and technology businesses and organisations.
He advises universities, research organisations, institutes and companies on utilising their IP and knowhow for research and commercial gain. Unusually, he has a specialism in those aspects of subsidy control law that relate to science, technology and innovation.
Rob is also an experienced board director and corporate governance specialist. He is immediate past Chair of the Compound Semiconductor Applications (CSA) Catapult, part of a network of national technology and innovation centres. In addition, he is Chair of Foresight Research Limited, a company set up to utilise artificial intelligence in the healthcare space, with an initial focus on identifying an intervention for macular degeneration – the biggest cause of sight loss in the developed world, and the second biggest cause globally. Rob is also on the board of Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus, owned by Aberystwyth University, and the Open Data Institute.
Rob is a Chartered Company Secretary and a recognised expert in corporate governance for private and not-for-profit companies.
Separately, Rob has a specialism in advising often high-profile departing senior executives following the termination of their employment.
