Sian Clarke is a Legal Director within our Employment Team.

Sian provides clear, practical and commercially focused advice on matters including discrimination, contractual disputes, equal pay, pension loss, redundancy, TUPE, whistleblowing, and unfair, wrongful and constructive dismissal. Sian supports employees and organisations at every stage of an employment relationship.

With substantial experience in early-stage and pre-claim work, Sian regularly guides clients through internal grievance and disciplinary procedures, alternative dispute resolution, and the negotiation of complex or large-scale settlement agreements. This includes coordinating with HR professionals, union representatives and other advisors to deliver coherent, strategic outcomes. Sian is known for excellent communication, analytical thinking and a client focused approach with an ability to remain calm under pressure.

Sian has represented clients in several high-profile and successful tribunal claims.

Sian is recognised as a Key Lawyer in Legal 500, where she is praised for being “a very safe pair of hands.

Sian is also a regular media commentator, contributing to local and national press, radio and television on employment law matters. She frequently speaks at Wales TUC national conferences, presenting on current and emerging workplace issues. Sian is a member of both the Law Society and the Employment Lawyers Association (ELA).

Work Highlights

Highlights include representing the lead claimant where the Tribunal ruled that the employer unlawfully induced workers to bypass collective bargaining with their union. The Tribunal ordered the employer to pay individual sums of compensation to all claimants.
Representing claimants in large group claims securing protective awards where employers have failed to follow the correct procedures when making redundancies.
Representing individual claimants including acting for a senior manager at KFC in her successful sex discrimination and harassment case, securing a disability discrimination and unfair dismissal judgment against JD Wetherspoon PLC, and advising on a redundancy exercise at an international car manufacturing business and advising on a redundancy exercise at an international aerospace business trade union on age discrimination issues relating to pension entitlements.
