Steve Conlay

Steve is a senior employment law specialist and Chartered Legal Executive with more than 20 years’ legal experience. He advises employers, senior executives and individuals on complex workplace disputes, strategic employment issues and high value Employment Tribunal litigation, including discrimination, unfair dismissal and reputationally sensitive claims. His experience includes conducting Employment Appeal Tribunal matters and advising on trade union and collective employment issues, and he regularly defends employers in Tribunal claims involving unfair dismissal and discrimination.

Steve advises businesses and individuals on settlement agreements and senior employee or director exits, and supports organisations through restructures, redundancies and TUPE-related change. He also advises on holiday pay, working time and National Minimum Wage penalties, and provides guidance to regional CIPD on employment law reform.

Alongside his client work, Steve is an experienced workplace trainer, designing and delivering practical employment law and HR training for businesses and leadership teams. He tutors at AccXel Construction School, delivers annual updates to Gloucestershire CIPD, and is a regular speaker and writer on employment law, workplace culture and people management, contributing legal updates and commentary for clients and professional publications.

Steve works in close partnership with his clients, taking a commercial, practical approach to help them make confident decisions, protect their businesses and resolve disputes efficiently. He advises clients across retail, engineering, manufacturing and construction, as well as SMEs, growth businesses and organisations delivering public sector contracts.
