Tessa Laws is a Consultant Partner within our Corporate Team and leads the Energy Team.

As the Energy team leader, Tessa is a highly experienced senior lawyer whose deep understanding of the sector derives from her advisory and direct involvement in a number of substantial, high-profile initiatives and projects.

Previously, Tessa was a partner and head of corporate at the City law firm Rosenblatt, where she established its successful renewable energy practice as well as its Japan desk. After that, she moved on to set up her own legal practice which merged with Acuity in 2018.

Tessa led legal advice on establishing Cyprus’s first wind farm. Subsequently, she has acted on over 400 MW of investment in solar PV into the UK market together  with deals across the low-carbon energy spectrum, counselling operators of battery storage, biomass, waste-to-energy and hydro energy.

Renewable energy and its technologies have shaped Tessa’s professional life and consequently, they have driven her passion for many years. In fact, 2008 she founded the New Energy Awards, hosting several stellar companies internationally in London to celebrate their success in green energy.

Today, at Acuity Law with Purpose, Tessa provides hands-on commercial advice as well as guidance to a wide range of clients, from individuals to institutions. Moreover, she continues to drive sustainable growth and champion innovation in the sector.

Tessa’s other sweet spot is acting on agency M&A  and she has been averaging 6 deals a year on behalf of buyers and sellers of PR, advertising and social media agencies in the UK and elsewhere. Work Highlights:

Advising Alistair Watkins on the sale of Joluxan Holdings Limited and its subsidiary Influence Sports & Media Limited, a leading sports and media agency, to The Mission Group Inc.

Advising Cadastra Digital Marketing, a global marketing, technology, business strategy, data and analytics solutions company, on the acquisition of Leicestershire digital marketing strategy business Digital Ethos.

Supporting Neil Taylor and The Horsley Partnership Ltd in their disposal of Schwa Consulting Limited to Definition Agency Limited.
