Rob Bryan is a Partner in our Commercial and Technology Team.
Rob is highly experienced in supporting publicly funded science and technology businesses and organisations. In particular, he advises universities, research organisations, institutes and companies on utilising their IP and knowhow for research and commercial gain. Moreover, he has a specialism in those aspects of subsidy control law that relate to science, technology and innovation.
Beyond his legal practice, Rob is a seasoned board director and corporate governance specialist. For example, he is immediate past Chair of the Compound Semiconductor Applications (CSA) Catapult, part of a network of national technology and innovation centres. In addition, he is Chair of Foresight Research Limited, a company set up to utilise artificial intelligence in the healthcare space. As a result, the company’s initial focus is on identifying an intervention for macular degeneration – the biggest cause of sight loss in the developed world, and the second biggest cause globally.
Rob is also on the board of Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus, owned by Aberystwyth University, and the Open Data Institute. Furthermore, as a Chartered Company Secretary, he is recognised for his expertise in corporate governance for private and not-for-profit companies.
Alongside his work, Rob has a specialism in advising often high-profile departing senior executives following the termination of their employment.
Advising on a series of collaboration and consortium agreements on behalf of a major European university, some of which related to the development of a Covid vaccine.
Counselling in relation to senior executive terminations for a variety of high-profile companies.
Overseeing in relation to the legal and governance work relating to the formation of a major, publicly funded. initiative in the agri-tech space.
