InsurTech is a distinct branch of FinTech, with the UK having been an Insurance leader for centuries. Our team has worked with innovators in this space to secure regulatory authorisations, acquire regulated firms, launch first to market protection products, scale embedded insurance offerings and negotiate key agreements with international insurers, globally recognised brands, and critical technology providers.

We advise on corporate formation to pre-seed funding to Series A and beyond (including SEIS and EIS), venture capital investment, equity fundraising and debt arrangements. We also support with due diligence, key regulatory matters, and FCA engagement involved with these transactions.

Firms often hold key relationships with banking partners, technology providers, distribution partners and their customers – we advise on key commercial agreements for FinTechs, including BaaS and platform agreements; critical data sharing agreements; co-branding and affinity products; complex distribution structures. We also advise on related FCA regulatory notifications and processes.

A priority area for regulators. The UK’s Money Laundering Regulations 2017 impose extensive obligations to a broad range of firms – we advise firms on securing MLR registration with the FCA and HMRC, on design and implementation of financial crime frameworks, training and regulatory developments.
