Government launches new coronavirus business support finder tool
A new “support finder” tool has been created to enable businesses and self-employed people across the UK to determine and find out what financial support is available to them during the pandemic.
The finder tool on the government website will ask business owners to fill out a simple online questionnaire, which can take minutes to complete, and they will then be directed to a summary of the financial support they may be eligible for.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak said that they want to do everything they can to make support as accessible and as easy to navigate as possible, and Business Secretary Alok Sharma said that businesses of all shapes and sizes play a vital role in our economy which is why they want to make it as easy as possible for them to access the wide ranging package of financial support during this challenging time.
The new business support finder tool can be found here.
Companies House support for businesses
Companies House has announced that it will temporarily pause the striking off of companies and will grant extensions of up to 3 months for the filing of annual accounts. In respect of other filings, where possible, these should be done online. However, Companies House is urgently working on a service to upload documents for all filings to allow companies to make filings and payment online. Changes announced by Companies House can be found here.
Grant Aid in Cardiff
Nearly £50 million of grant aid has been distributed to Cardiff businesses as part of the Welsh Government’s rescue package. Local council’s are processing grant aid applications and dealing with funding enquiries to help welsh businesses in need of financial support. Details of the schemes in place can be found here.
