UKVI Accounts To Prove Immigration Status

Current BRP card holders will note that their BRPs are valid until December 2024 whether they have been granted leave to enter or leave to remain. The UKVI intend to replace the Biometrics Residence Permit (BRP cards) with digital immigration status by January 2025.

The change will make it easier for the BRP card holders as they will no longer need a physical card to prove their immigration status, right to work and right to rent. They can follow simple steps using the following link https://www.gov.uk/view-prove-immigration-status.

It is anticipated that BRP card holders will be able to create UKVI accounts from April 2024. If your contact details are up to date with the Home Office, you will be contacted by UKVI to remind you to set up your UKVI account.

In light of the above, it is very important to keep the original decision letter safe as your current BRP does not state the expiry date of your visa if it expires after 31st December 2024.

If you no longer have your decision letter and are unsure as to when your leave expires, please get in touch with us. We can help you set up a UKVI account and can guide you as to how you can use the online service to prove your status.
