Meet The Team

Acuity is active in all areas of the healthcare sector, with specific expertise in dental practices, care homes, housing with care and pharmacies.

We have a highly experienced team of specialist lawyers across Acuity, who have a strong track record of acting for a broad spectrum of clients within the healthcare sector and a solid understanding of the market.

By understanding the breadth and depth of the challenges and opportunities faced by businesses operating within the sector, we are able to progress and manage the delivery of our legal services in a way that is tailored to our clients’ needs and produces the results they are seeking to achieve.

As a national law firm, we can create a responsive, multidisciplined client services team to suit the requirements of our healthcare clients. Our well-established and experienced legal team will ensure that your matter is managed effectively and in a commercially astute and timely manner.

We are proud to have a growing portfolio of healthcare clients built on long-standing relationships, and a model of working in partnership. Through this model, we regularly support a wide range of transactional work, such as refinancing, corporate and property acquisition programmes, property development opportunities, fundraising and investments, venture capital deals, disposals and re-organisations. We also advise clients on their routine business needs, including HR and employment advice, dispute resolution, data protection and commercial contract matters.

We are renowned for our high level of client service and transactional expertise, and this has been endorsed through our nominations as a Finalist in two categories at the 2023 HealthInvestor Awards: as Legal Advisers of the Year for both Private and Transactional work.

Here are just a few examples of our work in the sector:

  • Acting for Babylon Healthcare in relation to the re-gear of its head office occupation in Chelsea, London and lettings of various office and clinical operations nationwide.
  • Acting for Choice Care Group – a leading UK provider of residential care and supported living services for people with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health conditions – over a period of 18+ years in connection with the acquisition and development of a series of properties, and corporate acquisitions, supporting the group’s organic and acquisitive growth strategies, and supporting them through multiple refinancings, the most recent involving a portfolio of 60+ properties.
  • Acting for Portman Dental Care – Acuity is proud to be the retained legal advisers to Portman, the largest and fastest-growing privately focused dental group in the UK. Since 2010, Acuity has advised Portman on all aspects of its business, including the acquisition of over 100 dental practices in England, Wales, and Scotland and continues to advise it on all aspects of its day-to-day business.
  • Acting for Hartford Care Group – a leading UK provider of residential, dementia, and nursing care – in connection with a refinancing of the group and its portfolio of care homes and on its subsequent acquisition of a 32-bed nursing home in Hampshire.
  • Lead legal advisers in the global merger and reorganisation of an international group operating in the housing with care sector involving project management across multiple jurisdictions and international time-zones, and in connection with the receipt of a significant external investment into the group.
  • Providing GDPR audits through our Acuity DataGuard offering and advising on GDPR compliance.
  • Acting for LifeCare Residences Limited in connection with the funding, construction and development of its flagship Battersea Place Retirement Village, London’s first purpose-built luxury lifestyle retirement community with onsite care facilities on the edge of Battersea Park.
  • Acting for Independent Clinical Services in connection with its acquisition of ProClinical.
  • Acting for the owner and operator of a private hospital specialising in gastroenterology in connection with several rounds of equity and loan funding, various commercial ventures for the expansion of its services, and in the subsequent sale of the business to venture capitalists.
